I want to share with you my most memorable and unexplained experience. In 1988 my parents renovated our family home. This included demolishing the entire back half of the house and building a two-storey extension. My room was in the upstairs back left hand corner. Ever since the extension was built, we would often hear footsteps upstairs, especially in that room, along with noises from the four original rooms at the front of the house. We would hear people talking and would often sense a presence, yet we knew no-one was there.
In 1991 I was standing at the kitchen bench, which was in the new extension, and was facing the archway which linked the old with the new building. My mother was standing on the other side of the bench, facing me and with her back to the archway. The archway was at 11 o'clock, so about 30 degrees to the left of my view.
It was late in the afternoon the night after a party. There were still some helium balloons in the dining room (the room on the other side of the archway). I was having a conversation with my mother when I saw a black shadow outline of a person (a man) appear on the wall of the dining room. I could see this through the arch. I grinned at my mother and said my brother was out there, watch, he is going to scare us. You see, we had this ongoing family discussion about our house guests, some believed, others were sceptical, and one of those sceptics, was my brother.
So anyway, I watched the shadow for at least a minute, waiting for him to make a noise or jump out of the archway in his attempt to scare us, but no, instead, one of the bunches of balloons came down under the arch and whooshed across the ceiling to the stairway about three metres away from the arch. Giggling under our breath, my mother and I pretended not to see it and waited for my brother to appear, but nothing.....we waited, nothing. Shortly after, I whispered to my mother, he's gone (as in the shadow). So we both waited patiently for him to come in or for the front door to open or close. But again, nothing.
After about two minutes, we both were a little curious. So we went into the dining room, no brother, we went into the lounge, no brother, the bedroom, no brother. The front door was locked from the inside and the archway was the only link from that part of the house to where we were. Where had this person gone? Where did the shadow come from?
Confused, but intrigued, we tried to replicate the shadow, but couldn't. We tried with the lights on, off, curtains opened, closed, but nothing portrayed the shadow we had both seen.
We then moved onto the balloons. You see, the ceiling in the dining room was 13 feet high, yet the ceiling in the kitchen was 10 feet high. We tried everything to bring those balloons down and through the arch and across the roof to their resting place near the stairs. It was impossible. Nothing we tried even came close to what we had observed. We tried everything we possibly could to try and debunk what we had seen. It was frustrating and obsessive. For hours we discussed, reflected and re-enacted.
It absolutely blew my mind.
When my brother returned late that night, my mother and I told him what we had experienced. He, my sceptic bother, could not fathom how this could have happened. Now, the three of us were trying to re-enact what we had witnessed and again, to no avail.
The three of us then gathered around the bench, me on the side facing the arch and my brother and mother on the other side of the bench with their backs to the arch, but facing the laundry.
We came to the conclusion that it must have been wind and an unusual shadow cast from the window (mind you a shadow in the shape of a man). I did not believe this, but I had to tell my mind something, so it would stop obsessing on what it had witnessed, when suddenly the lid of the washing machine lifted and the filter in the centre came out and flew across the kitchen and landed near my ride hand side.
The three of us gasped in "WHAT THE?". The washing machine was off, the lid was closed. Who or what did that? What was going on? Who, or what was telling me, it was not wind, nor a shadow, it was ME!
I was 21 when this happened and the tingling sensation and pain in my legs which flowed up through my body is what I experienced that day and still do today when around spirits.
I know now that what I witnessed was paranormal and was in fact my first visual experience of a spirit that I can clearly recall.
We have since moved on from that house, but to no surprise, the new owners have shared with us many unexplained experiences, one of which is a shadow of a man who lurks in the dining room. Did our renovation impact on spirits......
Interesting, very interesting.

Lunatic Asylum, Beechworth, Victoria
On Thursday night I headed off to a paranormal investigation at the Lunatic Asylum in Beechworth Victoria, with three other people, and a great guide named Adrian. This is one investigation that I have been anticipating for many years. Ever since my son went there seven years ago and had quite a traumatic experience, one which he has vowed never to return. That in itself says something happened, something unexplained and something I want to know!
Although the investigation started slow, as the night progressed, so did the experiences. Experiences, some of which were the strongest I have ever had on any of my investigations.
So our investigation began in the women's wing. Quite quickly I had something or someone attach itself to me via the EMF device. I couldn't feel them or sense them, but they did appear to respond to questions I asked through a yes no light activation on the EMF device. For example, I would ask was this room the matron's bedroom, the device would respond no. Is this an area where the matron slept - no. I would ask was this a lounge type room for matron - yes. I then would go into another room and it would respond that this was the bedroom. This information was confirmed by the guide. We also had the light parascope light up in the doorway when requested. The other members on the investigation did appear to have similar responses with their EMF devices. Other than that, this area was low in activity, but great in history.
As we moved from area to area, it was apparent that the spirit who had attached themselves to me early in the evening had decided to be my travel buddy. When we moved into another area of the asylum that was quiet, my EMF would detect a spirit. On occasion it would respond that it was the lady who had been with me previously. The only areas this spirit did not come with, were the bullpit corridor and the cells.
From here, we moved across to the male wing where we used an ovilis device. There were a few words that came through on the meter, but I did not sense any activity personally. This was a great space with lots of rooms to explore and conversations to be had. We moved into a kitchen area where Adrian attempted to connect with a spirit using the parascope, to no avail. We also used the laser grid to detect any movement or shadows. Again, there was no movement. This area was very quiet, albeit it was early in the investigation.
From here we moved into the bullpit area and a long corridor area. It was here that I felt my first strong sensation. The sensations I feel are tingles which start in my toes and move up through my legs, similar to what lactic acid feels like. Usually they stay as strong tingles, but sometimes they can be so strong my legs go numb and hurt. For very strong sensations, the feeling will flow up my body and into my cheeks where my jaw becomes a bit paralysed. When this happens I also begin to sweat on my face (but no where else). It is the weirdest sensation.
So, here is what happened. Adrian placed an ovilis on the window sill of the corridor and a parascope at one end of the corridor and one about half way down. We all stood at the other end of the corridor in complete silence and darkness. I'm talking complete darkness, blackest of black. The history of the bullpit is enough to scare anyone in regards to males and the issues that went on, but to stand there in the dark - usually you would think it would be nerve racking, but no, not at all. Not long into the session, I asked Adrian if he was aware if children were permitted or housed in this area. One thing that I have found on all my investigations is that if they are children present, they will usually come and find me. I can usually feel them, hear them; they have touched me, pulled on my clothes and played with my hair and at times - I can see their orbs or glimpsing shadows. It is a nice feeling, although I can sometimes get teary and emotional, but in a motherly way.
The other common sensation I usually experience, is one of a not so nice manner. The physical sensations are the same, but I generally feel anxious and uncomfortable as opposed to motherly and caring. Experience has indicated that this feeling is usually associated with older males and more dangerous males. So in this scenario, standing in the dark, in the corridor, in the asylum, I had the tingling sensation, but I felt calm and safe, hence my question regarding children. Adrian asked why. I said that I can sense a very small child, very small, maybe 3 to 5 years of age. Not long after I said this, I could see a flashing blue orb, very close to the ground and about half way between the two devices. I asked if anyone else could see it, to no satisfaction. After seeing this orb about 10 times, I walked down and showed the group where I was seeing it. At that point my tingles shot up through my body to my face. I knew then that a child was present.
Once I returned to the group, I stated again when I saw it. Adrian then confirmed he saw it too and that this was the first time he had actually seen one with his own eyes. He had photographed them, but never actually seen one. I then saw that the orb was moving back towards the end of the corridor at which point I saw a red line appear through the middle of the orb. Instantly the parascope lit up for all to see with a vertical red line. First was the red line and then on request, the child played with it until it moved to the green lights. Adrian then asked the child to come forward and do the same with the other device. I watched the orb move forward and cast a shadow across a doorway (the shadow and change in light, not the orb, was observed by Jack at the exact moment I saw the orb pass the doorway - Jack was another person on the investigation). A few moments later I was able to tell the group that the child was right near the second parascope. A second later, the child was able to light up the second device. I was blown away by his playfulness and that I could sense the child and see the orb. It was one of the best experiences I have had. I am so excited to return to that area and make contact with that child who appeared to be very happy to play and be around me.
I believe that this child and at least one other, followed me downstairs, because of an incident that happened when I was standing in a room with another member of the group. The other three members of the group had already moved outside. I was reflecting on what had happened in the corridor and how impressed I was with what the small boy (on instinct) had done. At that point, I heard the cupboard door close behind me. I went over and opened it and tried to emulate what I had heard. I then summoned Adrian and explained what I had just experienced. Whilst I was explaining it to him, we heard the cupboard door do the same thing in the other room. We ran in there to see the door opened, which had previously been closed, which I can confirm, as I was in that room only moments before. I then could hear very soft children giggles. The night was still, doors were closed and the asylum was deadly silent. We quickly realised that these children were playing hide and seek in the cupboards. It was amazing. The giggles were soft but audible. I ran from room to room, hearing them giggling. I didn't want to leave them, they seemed to love having me there.
From here we moved to another building. Adrian informed us that it is in this building where most people have photographed a spirit at the end of a hallway. Although nothing for me happened here, it was great to hear the tales and see the autoposy table. Again, there were plenty of rooms to explore and make connections. The only sensation I had was that I could hear whistling late in the investigation. It appeared to come from an area down a hallway. We also placed the ovilis on the autoposy table and Adrian made a connection with Sergeant John who was a returned soldier. I would have liked to explore this connection in greater detail, given my personal experience with the defence force, but the night was getting on and we still had the cellar in the Olivine building to explore.
So off we went underground to where criminals were held. These criminals worked on building the asylum during the day and then were housed in cells underground of a night. The five of us moved into a cell and stood there in complete darkness. It was not long before Adrian and myself heard footsteps. Distinct footsteps. You could feel the air thicken and you could sense a presence. In fact, I could sense three figures. Two male and someone else. On reflection, I believe one was a young female. My tingling was strong, painful and at times excruciating and I felt very uncomfortable. I knew these were dangerous males. We then set up the spirit box where Adrian asked questions. The only audible sounds that come through to the questions of whether we could stay, were NO and whatever. The whatever was a female voice. We then placed the parascopes on the stairs leading out of the cellar. As my tingles began to subside as they moved away from us, the lights on the devices were activated. This could be a response of the spirits walking up the stairs. Once the lights stopped, my sensations stopped and I no longer felt uncomfortable. We were alone. Very alone.
Our investigation was then over for the night, but I definitely need to go back and work through that child spirit, along with the young female that attached herself to me for the evening. I sensed a young teenage girl who worked sort of like a tour guide for me. I would like to see if I can explore that connection further and why she was so comfortable walking around the asylum with me.
Great night with genuine experiences and connections.
Until next time!

Geelong Gaol, Victoria, Australia
After being through a couple of very active experiences at Geelong Gaol in the past, I was excited about spending three hours there last night, as gifted from a friend. Mind you, I would not have paid for this tour for personal reasons, but that is another story and this investigation was gifted to me as a surprise.
Unfortunately it was rather disappointing to say the least. We had a tour guide who was very ordinary; who constantly tried to validate the tour by talking about her personal experiences or the hear say experiences of others. Although this at times can add to the ambience of an investigation, in this circumstance it was off putting and patronizing, mainly because NOTHING was happening. To constantly hear, "this happened in this room, and this door closed, and this person's legs were grabbed" yet nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing was happening for us, made the experience all the more frustrating. Yes, I know that spirits and paranormal activity will not always happen, but this was just ridiculous. It got to the point where it was a joke.
We would get to a room and the equipment would be set up. The ghost meter pro was obviously way too sensitive, as it was pretty much on the entire night, whilst none of the K2's registered anything. The spirit box was used excessively and questions would be asked within one minute of entering a room and the guide would ask "how many live persons are in this room?".... crackle crackle, random mumbling...."seven, did you hear that, it said seven, thankyou" or "what is the name of your client?" crackle, crackle, random mumbling "Temeka....it said Temeka , thank you spirit".... NO! We did not hear any of that. "Did you feel the cold breeze, the temperature has just dropped" No it didn't. It has fluctuated between 10 - 11 degrees all night. A change in 0.2 or so degrees does not justify a spirit is in the room.
I find it infuriating that guides impose "spirit experiences" on you. It is far more experiential to have these feelings independently and naturally. To sit, to listen, to feel; to become attuned to your senses. Constantly turning on lanterns, using the laser grid until the point of annoyance, talking, rushing through questions and manifesting answers, was not an investigation, it was a poorly scripted and rushed tour with a set agenda.
The final straw in the camel's back of total "I'm over it" was the use of dousing rods in the "gas room". When asked what spirits were usually up here, the response was, Johnny a 15 year old boy likes to come here to play with them - that was it! With all the lanterns on and people talking and sitting around a room with two sets of the rods watching them do nothing was ridiculous. So much so, that one lady left and said I'm over this.
The tour went through the kitchen, the autopsy room, the stair wells, the dentistry room, the condemned cells, famous cells of Chopper Reid, James Murphy and Percy, the gallows, a sewing room/gym space (which the guide claimed was home to a paranormal vortex), the hospital, the body drop and the gas room. Great history and great spaces with so much potential and anticipation, but unfortunately totally anticlimatic.
The only maybe, and a very loose maybe at best, was we played a music box at the bottom of a stairwell in the East Wing. Once the music box stopped, about 5 seconds later, I distinctly heard the tune again from what appeared to be the 2nd or 3rd floor. It lasted for about 3 seconds. This did happen twice. I can not debunk reverberation or echoing, as acoustically this would echo quite nicely, but it was interesting and I would have liked to have spent more time taking this further.
Normally I am not one to feel nothing. I am very sensitive to spirits, I feel them, I smell them and I am told things often by them - very often. Last night, my intuition told me that they did not want to come out as they did not like the guide. I was not the only person that felt this, many of the other guests claimed the same thing.
On the one hour drive home, my friend and my mother spoke about the tour and it was a unanimous vote to not return. All of us were bitterly disappointed. So onwards to our next adventure which will most probably be the Castlemaine Gaol.

Point Cook Homestead, Victoria, Australia
Last night a group of us did a tour at Point Cook Homestead in Victoria. I had done this exact tour a few years ago and the experience was great. Actually, it was this tour that got me excited about investigating ghosts and the paranormal.
We started the tour with a brief introduction in the machinery shed. Nothing interesting happened when we were in there, but about an hour later, we were in another part of the property and a friend was looking across the gardens to the shed (he was about 100 metres away). I asked him what he was looking at, and he replied, two people walking around in there. I responded, we are the only people on the tour, no one else is here. He went on to say they walked into the kitchen part of the shed (it had been converted into a café at one stage) and he was waiting for them to come out. They didn't. While we were there watching the shed for about a minute, the outside light (near where we had parked our cars and the shed) went on, off, on, off about six times. This was then followed by the light inside the shed going on, off, on, off about four times. Interesting!
Next we moved onto the stables, nothing happened here, except a friend mentioned she could hear horses galloping. I didn't hear it.
From here we moved down to the cellar. Just before we entered two people said they had seen (briefly) someone in the window of the homestead and another person said that they saw a cat sitting on the window sill. (I will talk about these more later on, because they are totally relevant).
Down in the cellar. Last time, I had felt a cobweb like feeling in my hair and a light tugging on my jacket and a little giggle from the right hand corner of the cellar.
When we went in there, we turned the lantern off and we waited there in total darkness. After a minute or so, my friend mentioned, who was standing in the right hand corner, that she had felt like she walked into cobwebs and then felt a light tug on her scarf and sleeve. This was identical to me! She then went on to say that she heard a little girl giggling. As soon as she said this, two others said they had heard the little laughs as well. Freaky huh?
Then we moved down to the beach to hear stories of death and shipwrecks. Rumour has it that people have seen shadows along the beach and heard voices, again, I did not see or hear anything.
From here I took photos from the beach of each of the buildings. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. But when I got home and uploaded the pictures, the one of the stables has a orange glow coming from inside. Two photos before, nothing, then orange lights for three photos and then nothing again. I did not see this when I was looking at it. Just a tad freaky that one!
We then moved into the house and wow! This part of the tour was the most active and where nearly everyone experienced something.
In the "smokers" room, we took many pictures of orbs and this is where my tingling was the greatest. At one point, my friend and I were standing side by side in the doorway taking pictures and then we both looked at each other and said "Did you feel that?" It was the most intense tingling from head to know, as if something had gone through both of us. It was the strongest sensation I have ever had on any tour.
All of the rooms in the homestead were active. The dousing rods were moving and answering questions on demand and we were feeling like we were being touched, our hands squeezed and slight pushes in the back. It was almost like they were so happy for us to be there, but intrigued all the same.
In one particular room, a friend, who was holding the rods, was so overcome with emotion, she was in tears. Another friend felt like she was being pushed out of the room and again many photos of orbs were captured. This was also the room, which from the outside, was where the two people had seen a shadow. Interesting!
The next room was a very pleasant feeling room. As soon as we entered, a friend asked, is this the room I can see from the game room? I saw a cat on the window sill in here and this room smells of cat. The investigator went on to say there have been many experiences relating to cats in this room, even the sounds of purring have been heard. Now, that was freaky, especially as some people swore they heard a meow. Not me though, but then again, I was on the other side of the room taking pictures down the hallway.
Overall, I thought the activity was very high. I'm looking forward to doing a longer investigation there with some thermal cameras and EMF devices. Also a great tour for skeptics who want to experience something that may challenge their beliefs.

Pentridge Gaol, Melbourne, Australia
This was the second time I have been through Pentridge Gaol since it has been closed to the public. Both experiences were totally different and I am not sure whether I would do a deeper investigation of this gaol. After spending close to 7 hours in the gaol, I am yet to experience anything that would entice me to return.
The first time, the group took many photos that showed many questionable shadows, but we did not hear, see or feel anything out of the ordinary, or apparent ordinary. There was one instance, which has yet to be confirmed as an intruder, a ghost sighting, a doppelganger sighting or a spirit.
Let me take you through the experience and you can make your own judgement.
Whilst on the second floor near the gallows, I was looking down over the balcony towards the exercise yard through the centre of the gaol. I noticed a shadow moving in the alcove. I continued to watch when a man walked out from the alcove and into my view. I stared, and he stared back. He then retreated into the alcove. I continued watching and a few moments later he appeared again. Looked left towards the front of the cell block, looked right and up at me and then took a photo. Yes, he appeared to have a mobile phone. He then looked at me again and retreated. He did walk out again a third time and retreated once again. While he was in sight, I did manage to take at least three photos.
At this point, whilst continuing to look down at the alcove, one of my investigator friends was trying to get my attention. I immediately thought they were asking if I had seen this man. So I asked "did you see him too?" "See who?" As you can imagine, the conversation went back and forth until I realized I was the only one who had seen him. Take note, that I still have been watching the alcove waiting for him to reappear. I showed my friends the pictures and we did a head count. Everyone who had entered the gaol was with us on the second floor. Where did this man come from, how did he get in, where did he go? I saw him go out into the exercise yard alcove and not come back inside. He must be somewhere? We are talking a maximum security prison here, there is no escaping that exercise yard.
So with that in mind, we knew that he must be somewhere in the exercise yard, hiding and waiting.
Fearless as I am (I would say more like high adrenalin levels), myself and three of the guys I was with, went out to the yards. We searched all three yards in depth. Nothing. Noone. We searched every cell in the three story block. Nothing.
There is only one way in and one way out and that is through the open centre walkway. He would have needed to walk down that walkway, in view of everyone, up a flight of metal stairs and let himself out the security enabled triple doors. No one saw him, no one heard him and no one found him. Where did this guy go? Where did he come from? There was nothing on the CCTV. Nothing anywhere. So very weird!
So much so, that we called the police who also searched the complex, yards and cells. Nothing!
So naturally with that lingering in my mind, we returned on Thursday night, but, you guessed it, not a lot happened. We tried to engage with the Brownlight Strangler in Cell 52 and with Chopper Reid in Cell 16. Even this mysterious man in the exercise yard (just in case)....but nothing. The only point of interest happened to Jane (one of the investigators) on the third floor. She developed a major headache and pain in her head and shoulders. I took some photos during this time and when analyzing them the next day, there is shadow, orb type presence around her upper chest. Her headaches alleviated when we moved off the third floor.
So although many people have claimed high levels of paranormal activity at Pentridge, for me, they have all been hearsay. I haven't myself experienced or seen anything out of the ordinary.....unless you want to include the mystery exercise yard man which has yet to be confirmed or denied.
Until next time....maybe.

Duneira Homestead, Mt Macedon, Victoria, Australia
Let me set the scene. It is Friday the 13th. It is Winter, the day has been clear with no clouds, so as night settles in, it is cold, very cold. The property sits at the top of Mount Macedon, surrounded by acres of gardens. The breeze has picked up and the one hundred year old trees are swaying in the wind. I am getting glimpses of the moon through the leaves and the moonlight is casting eerie shadows in the gardens. The homestead "Duneira" is beautiful, with large rooms, high ornate ceilings and the most divine furnishings.
This property is renowned for high paranormal activity and with the perfect night set, I was very excited to say the least.
Unfortunately, on this night, my senses only picked up two sensations. We were not allowed to take photos, so I have no evidence of anything that may have been that I did not see.
The first encounter was in the main bedroom where I sensed a young boy playing. The servants have photos of footprints on made beds and although I did sense his presence, it was only weak.
The other sensation was in the hallway outside the servants quarters, where I felt negative and an overwhelming emotion of a very sad and disconnected young woman. It was as if she was there in body, but not in heart or emotion. She was sad, lonely, hurt and just living a life, a life she hated.
I would definitely like to explore that experience more. To delve deeper into why I felt that and what may have been.
As for the homestead itself. The main living room was amazing. In the dining room, the dousing rods were fixated on the head of the table and no matter where we moved in the room, they swung to face that chair. Again without pictures or the time to try and contact the spirit, I can not say whether there was something there or not. This is something we will need to go back to explore further.
The library was fantastic but there was a feeling of heaviness and sadness there. The kitchen was uneventful as was the office. Besides the one sensation in the main bedroom, I felt nothing in the other four bedrooms or in any of the hallways of the main residence.
I will go back at some point to investigate more, but this is not high on my priority list.

Geelong Gaol, Victoria, Australia
Now this is one interesting place. with everything you imagine a paranormal investigation to be. There are not many places that I would say that I could explore over and over again, but to be honest, Geelong Gaol would go close.
I have explored this gaol on four separate occasions, and all four have been totally different and unique. Instead of talking about all four separately, I will consolidate the experiences into one reflection, but take note, that this did not all happen on the one evening.
Firstly the gaol itself is amazing, the cell block we investigated is a cross block with four corridors flowing from a central hub.
We started in the dental surgery, role playing a prisoner requiring some work done on his teeth. The EMF detectors were triggering a presence and some of the people I was with sensed a spirit. The person we had put in the dental chair, mentioned that she felt like someone was leaning over her and she stated that she believed the chair moved slightly. We took night video of the experience, but nothing showed on the cameras.
We then moved to explore one of the stairwells. There have been many reports of sightings of a young girl, and sounds of children's voices playing and laughing. We placed a teddy bear on the stairs and set up a laser grid to detect any shadows or movement. On one occasion there was a definite break in the laser grid and whilst I was sitting on the floor in front of the stairs staring at them and the light grid, I definitely sensed a young child. I have found on many of my investigations that I tend to pick up the presence of young children, especially those aged under seven. She was happy, curious and gentle. It was a nice pleasant feeling, not one that I would expect in a gaol. I sensed that she was either an orphan or the child of a prisoner. Research showed that the goal had been used as an orphanage at one point and that is what I sensed.
The prisoner cells are like most gaol cells. Small, dark and cold. In some of them I had feelings of sadness, depression and hurt, in others I felt nothing. I didn't hear any sounds or feel anything touching me whilst in any of the cells.
The chapel was another room explored. This was interesting. Although I didn't notice any feelings out of the ordinary, I would be interested to spend more time in that space, waiting, listening and observing.
The kitchen was probably the highlight for me. It was in this space that I felt the most energy as did others who were investigating with me. I was in a constant state of high tingling sensations (which is what I usually feel when there is a high energy level). EMF detectors were being triggered and I felt like every time questions were asked, I could "feel" the answer. I felt like whatever was in the kitchen was trying to communicate directly with me. When we asked the alleged spirits questions, we requested the answers to come back through the spirit box, but the interesting and unexplainable thing was, I was told the same response moments before it came through the spirit box. I have never had that happen to me so strongly before and it happened repeatedly. This experience in the kitchen probably lasted 30 minutes alone. The energy I felt was that of a male, a strong male and quite a dominant male. Although I have never been one to speculate age, looks or mannerisms, this time, the sensation was strong enough for me to describe it in greater depth. I felt a man in his 30's or 40's, strong, threatening and not the best with women. There were instances where my emotions were scared (I myself wasn't scared, but I felt an emotion of being scared - if that makes sense), I felt threatened by him and the more I stood my ground and told him to go away and leave me alone, the stronger the sensation became. It was very interesting. Although I didn't actually feel physically threatened in any way, I felt that emotion. Whatever was in this kitchen drained our camera batteries, our spirit box, our video camera battery and the torch battery. Very weird, very creepy but very interesting.
Definitely one of my favourite places and I plan to return in the next few months.

Altona Homestead, Victoria, Australia
This homestead is not one that I had on my list of investigations to do, but it came across my path, so my mother and I ventured down on a cold Saturday night to see what the rumours of activity were all about.
The homestead is set in the heart of Altona, in the park opposite the beach, surrounded by a library, community centre, shops and cafes. Standing in the park you can hear people laughing, music playing and the sound of waves on the beach.
But imagine this 120 years ago; set in bushland, isolated, dark and a governess standing in the bay window staring out to the blackness of the ocean, waiting anxiously for her husband to return from a voyage. It presents as eerie with all the attributes of a dark and mysterious past.
In the homestead the rooms feel heavy, dark and unpleasant. Almost uninviting. You can sense unhappiness and misery.
I was only there for about an hour, so as you can imagine, not a lot of time to do a full investigation, but definitely enough time to feel the tone and atmosphere of the homestead.
I may return for a more in depth study.
